Ciara Duffy is an intimacy coordinator for the film and television industry. Based in Ireland, Ciara began her career in the Production department in 2014. She has since worked on some of the biggest productions in the country, including Disney’s Disenchanted,  Lucasfilm's Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi, Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, and Foundation for Apple+.

 

While coordinating Bodkin for Netflix in 2022, Ciara began her training as an intimacy coordinator with the IDC (Intimacy Directors and Coordinators) based in the United States. The certification level of the course, under Amanda Blumenthal and Rebecca Johannsen of the Intimacy Professionals Association (intimacyprofessionalsassociation.com), began in July 2023.

 

Extensive experience working with some of the world’s top production companies has given Ciara a valuable insight into the importance of advocating for consent within intimate and vulnerable scenes, with empathy and sensitivity as the cornerstones protecting the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the performers and the crew on set.

 

Ciara possesses the unique ability to effectively manage on- set dynamics, while still respecting the creative vision of the director, the objectives of the producers, and the safety and comfort of the cast and crew. She understands that intimacy is an area which many productions still approach with slight trepidation, which is why she safeguards each set to ensure an environment which is supported and trusted, where actors, directors and crew are motivated to engage in a collaborative process for the overall betterment of the production. 

 

Since becoming certified, Ciara has choreographed intimate scenes on productions for Apple+, BBC and Virgin TV in Ireland. She is also currently training to become certified as a Child Protection Liaison for the entertainment industry.
